Pushpa: The Rise, Sookmar takes a step towards immovable territory by making a rustic spice film full of punch dialogues, characters who speak in chitchat dialect and a story whose roots are deeply rooted in the region. And given how high the expectations were. After Rangasthalam, what he delivers is a mixed bag that grows longer, occasionally bends down and fulfills what he promises to others.
Pushpa Raj (Owl Arjuna) is one of the many cultivators of Seshachalam who illegally cut red sandalwood and sell it to the powers in kilograms. In a syndicate consisting of several players, Pushpa gradually learns to find his footsteps and add ranks until the person who cuts down the trees once becomes the commander. What's new is that he chooses to spend time expanding the story and arranging Pushpa's character for the entire film, before going into the three-hour thing. And the move may not really be right for everyone, because despite all the hoopla, this movie is basically the same. Pushpa may have made many people his enemies, but none of them matched his unshakable nature, that is, until Shikawat came to the city. Sukmar's film was good.
While it sticks to the story in hand and focuses on the trafficking of Red Sanders, co-operation in smoothing things out for Pushpa. Where the film fails when it tries to end a strange (and disturbing) romance between her and Sreewali. , It doesn't always work or add to the big story at hand. Sure, Pushpa gets a chance to be her Knight Un-Shining Armor, but it seems to be taking the story in a direction that would go anyway. Even the last confrontation between Pushpa and Shikawat does not have the desired effect, which comes out quickly and the latter's role seems weak.
Also underwhelming are the VFX, art direction, editing and sound design in certain scenes. The team of Pushpa: The Rise did not hide the fact that they had to rush to release the film on time and it shows through the cracks. Given the run-time that seems unwarranted already, the technical glitches only make the flaws all the more glaring. Where Pushpa: The Rise shines is when it comes to the casting, direction, cinematography, costumes and music for the most part. Sure, the BGM by Devi Sri Prasad might seem underwhelming at times, but his music more than makes up for it because it blends well into the story. Cinematographer Mirosław Kuba Brożek and director Sukumar seem to have found the perfect groove for this film, complementing each other with their work.
Some scenes also lack VFX, art direction, editing and sound design. Pushpa: The Rise team did not hide the fact that they had to hurry to release the film on time and there are cracks in it. Given the runtime that already seems unnecessary, technical glitches only make the flaws more obvious. Pushpa: When it comes to casting, directing, cinematography, costumes and music, it is on the rise. Certainly, Devi Sri Prasad's BGM can sometimes seem weak,But her music makes for more than that because it blends well into the story. Cinematographer Mirosław Kuba Brożek and director Sukumar seem to have found the perfect cast for the film, complementing each other with their work. The costumes of Pushpa's character show a change in the way he stands in this world. The supporting cast also gets a chance to shine, despite the fact that sometimes pigeons play roles that are nothing more than cookie cutters. Rashmika also appears in the wrong place in a movie which has high testosterone. Ansuya, on the other hand, gets a scene with Sunil which proves that she is fit in this world. Oo Antava Oo Oo Antava plays Samantha's cameo whistles, which did not surprise anyone.
With all that said and done, Pushpa: The Rise Owl is Arjun all the way. He shines in a rustic role that is difficult on the surface but weak in ways that are not visible to others. Owl Arjun fans may be happy to see him briefly shake a leg in numbers like Sami Sami and I Boli Edhi Na Ada but they really shine when they are in a power struggle, Peter Hein, Ram - Choreograph some great action sequences with Lakshman or when he is constantly avoiding being called Koli Oda because he knows that he is very good for whatever others consider him as a stereotype.He also gets a chance to show his acting, apart from the bid on which he worked hard, when he makes a big film like this, sometimes he even makes you laugh.
Sukumar’s Pushpa: The Rise shows promise when it wraps things up and arranges things for Pushpa 2. Even though the film is a mixed bag, it makes you curious about what's to come. Just looking at whether Fahad and Allu Arjun set the screen on fire.
